Vintage Carlton bike for sale – now sold
Patrick write to me with a vintage Carlton bike for sale, in fact there are two of them, both built with Reynolds 531 tubing, a Carlton Pro Am and a ladies’ Courette, which is quite rare. Here are the details he supplied:
1977 Carlton Pro Am. 64cm frame. Totally original and owned by me from new. Little use (still has original brake blocks!) and always dry stored, so in very good condition. £175 O.N.O.
Carlton Courette Ladies bike. 58cm frame. Also original and owned from new. Comfort seat fitted but original seat will be supplied with bike. Very good condition. £150 O.N.O.

Vintage Carlton bikes for Sale
Carlton made some lovely bikes and a Pro Am is definitely worth buying in my view. Made in Worksop, Carlton frames were good quality with nice details and decals. A good quality Carlton should last a lifetime, built with Reynolds 531 steel tubing and often dressed with mid-range European or Japanese components. Here is the catalogue page for the Pro Am.
The Rare Courette
This is the first time I’ve come across a Carlton Courette, a ladies’ bike built with Reynolds 531 and matching the Pro Am for standards of quality and components. There are few ladies’ bikes from this era that had Reynolds 531 frames, I did, however find this Mercier bike built with Vitus tubes that was very lightweight.
